Do I need a DBS check and Public Liability Insurance to apply?
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds! While a DBS certificate and Public Liability Insurance are not strictly mandatory to submit your initial application, they are highly recommended to boost your booking rates.
A Basic DBS check and dedicated Public Liability Insurance for pet/cleaning services are easily accessible online. Handlers who provide these documents earn premium “Verified” badges on their profiles, which customers actively look for.
Importantly, as a self-employed professional, having your own insurance means you are directly protected if any property damage issues arise, keeping you entirely in control of your business liabilities.
How do I receive my job manifest?
Once approved, you’ll get access to the PAPEPO Driver Mobile App. It automatically generates your daily optimised route and digital job cards. You can log in securely right from your smartphone — no extra apps to download.
Am I employed by PAPEPO?
No. All Handlers operate strictly as Independent Self-Employed Contractors. PAPEPO is simply a technology matching platform. You are free to set your own hours, work for other clients, and manage your own tax and National Insurance via HMRC. Furthermore, as an independent business, you retain the Right of Substitution (the ability to send a suitably qualified substitute to perform the work, subject to our safety guidelines).
How long does the application process take?
The online wizard takes under 5 minutes to complete. Once submitted, our compliance team aims to review your application within 1–3 working days. Upon approval, you’ll receive a Welcome Email with your password setup link and first-day briefing.
What equipment do I need?
You must bring your own pet-safe, vet-grade disinfectant, biodegradable bags, and a pooper scooper. As an independent contractor, you retain control over your equipment choices, provided they strictly meet PAPEPO's technical hygiene specifications. You can source your own compliant gear or purchase our exclusive PAPEPO Starter Pack during registration.
How do I get paid, and what documents do I need to set it up?
We process your earnings securely via Stripe Connect directly to your designated UK bank account. Once your application is approved, you will be prompted to set up your personal Stripe Express profile through the Driver App.
To comply with UK financial regulations and secure your payouts, Stripe will require a valid Photo ID (such as a Passport or Driving Licence) and your UK bank account details (Account Number and Sort Code) to verify your identity. Having these ready during onboarding ensures zero delays in receiving your earnings.
Can I set my own prices for the customers I serve?
No, and here is exactly why this is your biggest advantage. At PAPEPO, we operate on a strictly unified, transparent pricing model across the entire platform. When you join, you automatically adopt our standardized rates.
We enforce this for three critical reasons:
1. Zero Friction: It completely eliminates the awkwardness of quoting, haggling over pennies, and chasing unpaid invoices. The system handles all billing automatically.
2. No "Race to the Bottom": On other open platforms, freelancers constantly undercut each other to win jobs, destroying their own profit margins. At PAPEPO, the price is fixed. You compete purely on the exceptional quality and reliability of your service, not by being the cheapest.
3. Faster Bookings: Customers love upfront, transparent pricing. This trust leads to faster automated bookings, which means denser, more profitable routing for you without spending a single minute doing sales.
How are initial cleans and introductory offers paid?
To help you rapidly build a dense and profitable weekly route, PAPEPO uses highly effective "Introductory Offers" for new customers. This includes 50% off their very first trial visit, or 50% off the Initial Deep Clean surcharge when they sign up for a new recurring subscription.
When a customer uses one of these introductory offers, your net payout for that specific first visit (or the deep clean portion) will also be reduced by 50%.
Why do we do this? Because data shows these offers drastically increase conversion rates. You are essentially investing a small amount on day one to instantly lock in a loyal, recurring customer. After that first promotional visit, every future weekly or fortnightly clean is paid out to you at your full standard rate. It's the fastest way to grow your permanent business.
How do platform fees and Stripe payment processing work?
We believe in absolute transparency. PAPEPO deducts a fixed flat fee of just £1.00 per completed booking for our matchmaking service.
Because you operate as an independent business via your own Stripe Connect account, any third-party payment processing percentages, instant bank payout fees, or unrecoverable refund overheads are handled directly by your account. Additionally, if a customer initiates a banking dispute or chargeback, the disputed amount and standard bank chargeback fees are your sole liability. PAPEPO acts purely as a peer-to-peer software intermediary and does not subsidise banking overheads or dispute losses.
